FARGO — In his first in-person court appearance since admitting to killing his ex-girlfriend, Jody Campbell, Randall Duffy, 61, pleaded not guilty to murder in Fargo’s East Central District Court. During the June 8 incident, Duffy allegedly called 911, directing officers to Campbell’s body in his apartment closet.
Duffy told investigators that the fatal altercation stemmed from an argument over a missing meth pipe. According to Fargo Police, Duffy claimed Campbell blocked his exit, leading him to put her in a headlock. He later found her unresponsive and waited hours before contacting police. Autopsy results confirmed Campbell’s death was caused by strangulation.
Defense attorneys pointed to Campbell’s aggressive behavior, with neighbors testifying to past threats she made against Duffy. Meth was also found in Campbell’s system during the investigation.
The case continues with the next hearing scheduled for October 3.
