Polk County (trfnews.i234.me) – Ilia Grigory Basargin, 33, of Polk County has been sentenced to 10 years of supervised probation after pleading guilty to second-degree criminal sexual contact involving a child under the age of 9.
The case stems from April 2023, when Basargin was reported for inappropriate contact with two juvenile girls. He was only prosecuted for the victim under 9. Using a Norgaard plea, Basargin admitted guilt but claimed he was too intoxicated to remember the crime.
Although state guidelines suggest 3–14 years in prison, his 3-year prison term was stayed, meaning he won’t serve time unless he violates probation.
He must:
-
Serve 60 days in local jail (with 32 days already served),
-
Complete a psychosexual evaluation within 45 days,
-
Participate in sex offender treatment or face additional jail time,
-
Register as a predatory offender,
-
Abstain from alcohol, undergo testing, and avoid contact with minors without approval.
If Basargin violates any condition, prosecutors can ask for his prison sentence to be executed.
