Police in Grand Forks use taser on individual experiencing a mental health crisis and wielding a knife

GRAND FORKS, ND (trfnews.i234.me) Grand Forks officers had to tase a mental health subject early this Saturday morning.
Grand Forks Police had to deal with a knife wielding man at alltr hospital early on this Saturday morning this in from Grand Forks Police they received a 911 hang-up call through dispatch the calls were able to be traced to the north end of a gr Forks residence where officers responded a male subject was encountered uh who was asking for help under the influence of drugs and had tied a knife to his arm officers were able to deescalate the situation two knives were removed from him and his belongings and the subject was eventually transported to ALU for psychiatric evaluation at 3:17 a.m. officers were called back to the emergency room at ALU as the same subject had reacquired a knife and began making self harm statements and acting erratically while in an exam room officers reestablished dialogue with the subject and were able to again deescalate the situation with the subject dropping the knife while officers were attempting to get the knife out of the room the subject lunged for the knife and picked it up again at this point officers depl deployed two less than Le lethal impact uh Munitions and an electronic control device toward the subject and were able to subdue him without any further incident the male subject was evaluated by emergency room Personnel for potential minor injuries he remained at the hospital for psychiatric treatment and is currently in stable condition no officers or bystanders were injured as a result of either in incident the subject was not charged with any criminal offense and is not anticipated to be gr Fork’s police department does not anticipate releasing any further information due to the mental health nature of the call I’m Neil Berg reporting for I trfnews.i234.me
