Pennington County (trfnews.i234.me) – A Thief River Falls man is facing second-degree DWI charges after a traffic stop revealed a blood alcohol concentration twice the legal limit and a prior DWI conviction.
According to court documents, police stopped a vehicle near Third Street and Kendall Avenue on July 21, 2025, after observing it traveling about 40 mph. The driver, identified as 35-year-old Jack Leighton Hamre, allegedly showed signs of impairment and failed field sobriety tests.
A preliminary breath test and subsequent Datamaster Transportable (DMT) test both measured Hamre’s BAC at 0.16. Records show Hamre has a prior DWI conviction within the past 10 years, which qualifies as an aggravating factor under Minnesota law.
Hamre was arrested and charged with second-degree DWI – two or more aggravating factors, a gross misdemeanor.
