Pennington County ( trfnews.i234.me ) – On the morning of September 9 at 9:39 a.m., Thief River Falls police conducted a traffic stop near Eastwood Drive and 158th Street Northeast.
Authorities say 39-year-old Michael Gregory Mortenson of Thief River Falls was arrested and cited for driving after revocation and possession of an open cannabis package in a motor vehicle.

According to the citation, an officer reported seeing Mortenson operating the same vehicle earlier that morning. During that initial stop, he had already been issued a citation for driving after his license had been revoked.
Later, another officer confirmed that his license was still revoked when he was seen driving again.

During the second stop, a police sergeant reported smelling marijuana from inside the vehicle. Mortenson admitted he had a marijuana bowl inside.
A search followed, and officers found a small amount of unpackaged marijuana along with two smoking pipes.

This arrest adds to the ongoing enforcement of Minnesota’s driving and cannabis laws. The case highlights the consequences of repeated violations and the risks of driving with a revoked license.

Driving with a revoked license and possessing cannabis in a motor vehicle remain criminal offenses in Minnesota. For more details on Minnesota driving laws, see the Minnesota Department of Public Safety.
Information about cannabis regulations can be found at the Minnesota Medical Cannabis Program.
