Pekin Man Gets 13 Years In Child Sex Case

Pekin, North Dakota (trfnews.i234.me) — A Pekin man has been sentenced to prison for repeated sexual contact with a child.

John Roger Messner, 37, was sentenced Friday, April 17. He must serve 13 years in prison.

Messner pleaded guilty in December to four felony counts. The charges were Class A felony gross sexual imposition.

The case involved sexual contact with a minor under age 15.

Case Reported In July

According to court documents, the case was reported to law enforcement in July.

Documents say Messner engaged in sexual acts with the child several times. The acts happened during the prior month.

The child victim was under 15 at the time of the offenses.

Class A felony charges in North Dakota can carry up to 20 years in prison.

Sentence And Probation Terms

Messner received a 20-year sentence. He will first serve 13 years in prison.

After his release, he will spend five years on supervised probation.

If he violates probation, he could return to prison. He could serve the remaining seven years.

Probation conditions include sex offender registration.

He also must have no contact with the child victim in this case.

Messner received credit for 284 days already served.
