Itasca County, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – A tragic accident occurred Thursday night in Itasca County, claiming the life of a young pedestrian. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, 19-year-old Carter John Haithcock of Goodland, Minnesota, was struck and killed at the intersection of Highway 169 and Highway 65 near Nashwauk. The incident happened around 11:20 p.m.
Haithcock was reportedly walking in the traffic lane when he was hit by a southbound 2005 GMC Yukon, driven by 64-year-old Cynthia Arlene Martin of Grand Rapids. Martin had not consumed alcohol prior to the crash and was wearing a seatbelt. She did not suffer any apparent injuries.
Emergency officials responded to the scene shortly after the incident occurred. The crash remains under investigation.
