PEDESTRIAN HIT IN THIEF RIVER FALLS CROSSWALK – DRIVER CITED

Thief River Falls (trfnews.i234.me) — On February 27 at 4:30 p.m., authorities responded to an accident at the intersection of Knight Avenue and Third Street, where a pedestrian was hit while in the crosswalk.

🔹 What Happened?

  • Peggy Kingbird of Redby was driving a 2007 Honda southbound on Knight Avenue and had stopped at a stop sign.
  • She then turned left onto Third Street and struck pedestrian Leonard Boike of Thief River Falls, who was lawfully crossing in the crosswalk.

🔹 Injuries & Response:

  • Boike declined ambulance transport but planned to seek medical attention by private vehicle.
  • No other injuries were reported.

🚨 DRIVER CITED:

  • Kingbird was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

Police are reminding drivers to be aware of pedestrians and obey right-of-way laws to avoid such accidents.
