Parkers Prairie Man Charged in Assault, 911 Case

Parkers Prairie (trfnews.i234.me) — A Parkers Prairie man faces two gross misdemeanor charges after an August domestic disturbance.

Jacob Arthur Larson, 32, is charged in Otter Tail County District Court.

Larson faces one count of domestic assault involving a prior qualifying conviction.

He also faces one count of interfering with an emergency telephone call.

The case is filed under court number 56-CR-26-2136.

Woman Reports Being Pushed From Deck

According to the criminal complaint, deputies responded to a Tomten Road residence around 2:24 a.m. August 29.

A woman told investigators she had been arguing with Larson, who was her boyfriend.

She alleged Larson pushed her from three stairs on a deck.

The woman fell to the ground and scraped her knee, according to the complaint.

Deputies reported seeing redness and an injury on her knee.

The woman said both people had consumed alcohol before the argument.

She also told investigators she became frightened during the incident.

The woman attempted to call 911 after the alleged assault, according to the complaint.

She said Larson wrestled the phone away from her.

The complaint says that action disconnected the emergency call.

Larson then left the residence on foot, according to court documents.

Authorities searched the surrounding area using several resources.

The search included a police canine and a drone, but Larson was not initially found.

The complaint also references earlier domestic incidents reported by the woman.

Those allegations include a previous incident involving a firearm.

Deputies returned to the residence around 10 a.m. later that day.

A family member told them Larson was inside the home.

Larson told investigators he had acted in self-defense, according to the complaint.

He then requested an attorney before making further statements.

Larson was taken into custody without incident.

The complaint states Larson has a 2023 second-degree assault conviction involving a dangerous weapon.

That conviction is listed as the qualifying prior offense for the current domestic assault charge.

The domestic assault charge falls under Minnesota Statute 609.2242.

The emergency call charge falls under Minnesota Statute 609.78.

Each charge carries a maximum penalty of 364 days in jail and a $3,000 fine.
