Becker County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Park Rapids man is facing a felony drug charge following a traffic stop near Ponsford earlier this year.
According to Becker County District Court records, John William Butcher, 42, of Park Rapids, has been charged with felony fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance.
On May 9, a Becker County deputy was on patrol when he noticed a vehicle traveling southbound on 465th Avenue near Ponsford. The deputy saw a red light glowing from the vehicle’s front grill, which led to a traffic stop.
The driver was identified as Butcher, who had an active warrant out of Hubbard County. After his arrest, authorities discovered a micro baggy containing 0.066 grams of methamphetamine in his pocket.
Butcher’s first court appearance is scheduled for December 9 before Becker County District Court Judge Gretchen D. Thilmony.
The case remains pending, and additional hearings will determine whether the matter proceeds to trial.
