Otter Tail County (trfnews.i234.me) — A bizarre and alarming incident at a Fergus Falls bank has resulted in criminal charges against a 71-year-old woman. According to Fergus Falls police, Cynthia Rae Nelson was arrested Monday morning after she allegedly threatened a bank employee during a dispute over a minor postal service charge.
Court documents from Otter Tail County District Court reveal that Nelson entered the bank to close her account and obtain a refund for a $2.16 charge from the postal service. Although the employee processed the refund, Nelson allegedly became extremely agitated.
Witnesses report that Nelson made a comment about “going postal,” simulated a gun gesture with her hands, and stated ominously that she “would be back.”
Before leaving, Nelson reportedly told the employee, “I’m not done with you,” while other witnesses said she used an expletive and flipped off the employee on her way out of the building.
Nelson now faces charges of threatening violence and disorderly conduct. She made her first court appearance Wednesday morning in Otter Tail County.
This incident highlights increasing tensions in public service environments, even over seemingly small disputes, according to local authorities.
