Osage Man Faces DWI Test Refusal, Assault Charges

Osage (trfnews.i234.me) — Randy Dale Snyder faces three charges after an August 13 incident in Becker County.

Snyder is charged with third-degree DWI test refusal and two misdemeanor domestic assault counts.

The case began with a driving complaint near State Highway 34 and Whittier Avenue.

Driver Reported Weaving on Highway

A caller reported a tan Buick weaving across the road and crossing into oncoming traffic.

The caller also reported the vehicle nearly entered a ditch before later pulling over.

Authorities could not initially locate the vehicle and later went to Snyder’s residence.

The complaint says the Buick was parked outside and still appeared warm from recent use.

Investigators reported hearing loud yelling from inside the home when they arrived.

A juvenile family member answered the door and identified Snyder as the driver, according to the complaint.

Investigators said Snyder showed several possible signs of alcohol impairment.

Those signs included an odor of alcohol, watery eyes, slurred speech, and unsteady balance.

Snyder initially denied driving the Buick, according to court records.

The juvenile family member first claimed she had been driving.

However, Snyder later referred to passing another vehicle while returning from Osage.

He then reportedly said he did not remember clearly but thought he had been driving.

Domestic Assault Allegations

The complaint says Snyder became increasingly aggressive toward the juvenile family member.

Investigators allege he repeatedly yelled at her to stop talking.

Snyder allegedly grabbed her by the right upper arm and pulled her toward him.

Authorities say he later grabbed her again during the confrontation.

The complaint alleges Snyder then made a fist and pulled his arm back.

Investigators interpreted that movement as if he was threatening to strike the juvenile.

Snyder was arrested and taken to the Becker County Jail.

Breath Test Allegedly Refused

At the jail, authorities read Snyder the Minnesota Breath Test Advisory.

The complaint says Snyder said he wanted to contact an attorney.

However, investigators reported he did not make an effort to place a call.

Authorities later asked Snyder to provide a breath sample.

The complaint says Snyder refused the breath test.

He also acknowledged being drunk, according to court records.

Snyder faces one gross misdemeanor charge of third-degree DWI test refusal.

That count carries up to 364 days in jail and a possible $3,000 fine.

He also faces two misdemeanor domestic assault charges.

Each assault count carries up to 90 days in jail and a possible $1,000 fine.

Snyder is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
