Becker County, MN (trfnews.i234.me)—On October 16, 2024, District Judge Michelle Lawson sentenced Kyle Joseph Firstshoot, 22, of Ogema, to 90 days in jail for misdemeanor domestic assault, with 82 days stayed for one year and credit for eight days served. He was fined $300 plus $85 in court fees. Additionally, Firstshoot is prohibited from consuming alcohol or using illegal drugs, must complete a comprehensive assessment and follow its recommendations, including aftercare, comply with cognitive behavioral interventions as directed by probation, and undergo domestic abuse counseling treatment.
The sentencing followed a plea agreement in which two felony counts of terroristic threats and one count of misdemeanor disorderly conduct were dismissed.
The charges originated from a January 19, 2024, incident in Ogema. White Earth police officers responded to a domestic disturbance call, where a woman reported that Firstshoot, while intoxicated, was breaking items, yelling, swearing, throwing objects at her, and had “shoulder-checked” her, causing fear for her safety. Another woman present stated that Firstshoot had been damaging the residence, which is part of a sober living community where his presence while intoxicated is prohibited. She expressed concern that his actions could jeopardize the first woman’s housing. During transport to jail, Firstshoot reportedly threatened officers, stating he would find their homes and shoot them.
