Mahnomen County (trfnews.i234.me) An Ogema man is facing two felony charges in Mahnomen County, according to a criminal complaint filed in Minnesota District Court.
James Richard Uran, 47, of Ogema, has been charged with two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct. The complaint says the alleged victim was under 13 at the time of the reported incidents.
What the Complaint Says
According to the court filing, the allegations involve incidents said to have happened between September 3, 2019, and May 29, 2020, in Mahnomen County.
The complaint says the victim later described several incidents during a forensic interview in September 2024. The girl said the abuse began when she was in fifth grade.
The filing says one incident happened at an uncle’s home in Waubun. The girl said she was in bed with her sisters and her father when he touched her inappropriately.
The complaint says a second incident happened later under similar circumstances. The girl said she tried to prevent it by placing a sister between them.
She told investigators she got out of bed after the alleged touching. The complaint states there was no penetration reported.
Follow-Up Interview
The court document says the victim later spoke again with investigators on September 30, 2024. During that follow-up, she said there may have been more incidents.
According to the complaint, the victim’s sisters remembered her saying something bad had happened when she was younger. However, they said they did not recall specific details.
Defendant’s Response
The complaint states Uran denied that any sexual conduct had happened. He told investigators that when he had custody of his daughters, they all slept in the same bed.
The charges remain allegations unless proven in court. A criminal complaint is not a conviction.
