McKenzie County (https://trfnews.i234.me)— An officer-involved shooting occurred Monday night in McKenzie County, North Dakota, resulting in the death of one individual. Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at 7:21 p.m., leading to a confrontation during which a man was shot. He was transported to McKenzie County Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The deputy involved has been placed on administrative leave, and the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation is conducting an inquiry.
Earlier reports indicated a gunshot victim in western North Dakota on Monday evening near Watford City. Emergency services were dispatched to the area of 23rd Street Northwest and 124 Q Avenue Northwest for a male down due to gunshots. Further details are pending as investigations continue.
In a related case, Hugo Hernandez, a Watford City man, pleaded not guilty to charges of negligent homicide and firearm discharge after allegedly shooting a woman in the abdomen last year. He was apprehended in Gillette, Wyoming, in April.
