Orley Arneson of Lexington, SC, formerly of Grygla, MN passed away on March 14, 2024 at Carolina Garden in Lexington, SC.
Funeral service for Orley will be held 10:30 AM Monday, March 25, 2024 at Grace Lutheran Church in Grygla, MN with Reverend Marilyn Grafstrom Officiating. Burial will be held at Our Savior’s Church Cemetery rural Grygla, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday morning.
Orley James Arneson was born March 16, 1939 son of Halvor and Evelyn (Jelle) Arneson at Grygla, MN. He attended Grygla School in Thief River Falls, MN. He received a degree in math from Long Beach State University in California.
In October of 1956 he entered the US Navy and served in Australia, China, Japan, and Hawaii. Orley received an honorable discharge February of 1960.
In 1959, Orley was united in marriage to Jeanne in California. To this union three children were born; Keith, Brad, and Robert. Orley worked at Rockwell International Guidance Systems in Anaheim, CA for 35 years and retired in 1995. He moved back to Thief River Falls and traveled back and forth to California. In 1998, he purchased a home in Grygla, MN and resided there until moving to Lexington, SC in January 2023 to be cared for by his son Brad and his family.
Orley enjoyed 4-wheeling, reading and served as an umpire for baseball for many years. He was a member of the Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Grygla.
Orley is survived by his children Keith, Brad (Jackie) and Robert (Cindy), his grandchildren Jennifer, Mindy and Krystin (Ed), his great-grandchildren Olivia and James, and his sister Judy (Kenny) Halvorson.
Orley is preceded in death by his wife Jeanne, his parents Halvor and Evelyn Arneson, and his brother Belmont.
