Helen Wilson, of Thief River Falls, MN, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2024 at the Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls, MN, at the age of 71.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Obit in Thief River Falls, MN, with Father Rick Lambert officiating.
Visitation will take place one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday at Obit.
Helen Louise Streich was born on July 10, 1952 in Grand Forks, ND, the daughter of Glen and Martha (Bain) Streich. She graduated from East Grand Forks Senior High School and studied nursing at the U of M in Crookston, MN.
On April 28, 1972 Helen was united in marriage to Allan Wilson at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. To this union, two children were born – Mike and Michelle.
Helen owned and operated a general store out of Thief River Falls. Later in life she worked as a nurse at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls and Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls, until her retirement.
Some of Helen’s hobbies included reading, cooking, traveling, spoiling her grandkids and great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren will remember her for making the best chocolate cake and mac n’ cheese.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Michelle (Edwin) Zimmerman of Butte, MT; daughter-in-law, Romayne Wilson of Thief River Falls, MN; grandchildren, Kristin (Adam) Reierson of Newfolden, MN, Mercedes Wilson of Thief River Falls, MN, Ethan and Madison Zimmerman of Butte, MT, Ariel (Andrew) Roach, Zachary and Claire Wilson of Glyndon, MN; great-grandchildren, Addalynn and Eva Reierson of Newfolden, MN; good friend, Peggy Koropatnicki of Thief River Falls, MN; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Allan; son, Mike; parents, Glen and Martha Streich; and her brother, Clarence Streich.
