Harvey Lund of Thief River Falls, MN passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2024 surrounded by his loving family at Sanford Medical Center in Thief River Falls, MN.
Celebration of life for Harvey will be held 10:00 AM Saturday May 4, 2024 at Obit in Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Mark Helgeland officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at Greenwood cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday.
Harvey Leo Lund was born in Lincoln Township, Gatzke, MN September 29, 1938 son of John Alrick and Myrtle (Skime) Lund. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He was raised near Skime, MN where he attended rural school and later moved into Thief River Falls where he graduated from Lincoln High School class of 1957. He worked at Lund Standard Station with his father and Twin brother.
On October 26, 1962 he was united in marriage to Lillian Torgerson at First Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN. To this union 4 children were born Melanie, Jeffrey, Blair and Michelle. The couple made their home in Thief River Falls, MN. He worked for Arctic Cat until 1981, he also worked in maintenance for the Thief River Falls school district and later worked for Independent Machine Service/Label Mark-it where he retired. To keep busy he cleaned at Falls Cinema.
Harvey enjoyed spending time with his best friend Lillian, also spending time with his children and grandchildren. He loved hunting with his boys and was always the cook. He loved his four-legged friends, playing cards and took great pride in his yard and his award-winning Christmas decorations.
Harvey is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Lillian of Thief River Falls, MN; children Melanie (James) Ortloff of Thief River Falls, MN, Jeffrey (Stacy) Lund of Grygla, MN, Blair (LeeAnn) Lund of Thief River Falls, MN and Michelle (Kelly) Little of Thief River Falls, MN; grandchildren Brandon (Erin) Ortloff, Brianna Ortloff, Daniel (Marissa) Lund, Brittney (Dusty) Pierson, Jessica (Isaac) Larson, Kaitlin (Tanner) Nessen, Ian (Hannah) Lund, Khloe Lund, Kylee (special friend Pablo) Little, Morgan Little; great-grandchildren Liam, Quinton, Jordi, Dru, Leah, Rylin, Korbyn, and Kason. Sisters Mavis Offerdahl, Eileen VeVea; in-laws Delores (Doug) Nomeland, Opal (Curt) Bottem, Douglas (Linda) Torgerson, Linda Torgerson, Scotty Torgerson.
Harvey is preceded in death by his parents, twin brother Hurby, brother Walter “Buddy”, brothers-in-law Merlin Offerdahl, Carter Torgerson; sister-in-law Sharon Torgerson; mother-in-law Violet (Ed) Olufson; and father-in-law Tellef Torgerson.
