Obituary | Bonita “Bonnie” Magner of Thief River Falls, Minnesota

Bonita “Bonnie” Magner, 81, of Thief River Falls, MN passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at the Thief River Care Center.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM with the service to celebrate Bonnie’s life at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 16, 2024 at Obit in Thief River Falls, MN. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Newfolden, MN.

Bonita Dee trfnews.i234.me was born November 8, 1942 at the Charles T. Miller Hospital of St. Paul, MN the daughter of Abner Everett and Lucille Ruth (Holler) trfnews.i234.me. The family lived in both Pine City, MN and Charleston, SC when Bonnie was very young, eventually settling in Thief River Falls.

Bonnie attended school in Thief River Falls graduating from Lincoln High School with the class of 1960. Following high school, Bonnie worked at Union State Bank in Thief River Falls.

On October 6, 1962, Bonnie was united in marriage to Donald Lloyd Magner near Thief River Falls at the home of Bonnie’s parents by a Minister of Jehovah’s Witnesses. The couple made their home in Thief River Falls and to this union five children were born, Kent, Paul, Kelly, Nathan and Joshua.

In addition to raising her family, Bonnie worked in various positions at Arctic Cat. She also worked for a short time at Piggly Wiggly, Hugos and DigiKey in Thief River Falls.

She enjoyed baking and was well known for her apple crisp. Bonnie liked flea markets, auction sales, drawing, (she had beautiful handwriting), playing piano, and traveling and spending time with her family.

Bonnie was baptized at the age of 18 years old into the Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was an active member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses congregation in Thief River Falls where she enjoyed doing volunteer work such as playing piano during services.

Survivors include her loving husband of 61 years, Donald of Thief River Falls; children, Kent Magner of Thief River Falls, Kelly (Brian) Gillund of Middle River, MN, Nathan Magner of Slidell, LA, and Joshua Magner of Newfolden, MN; grandchildren, Chaslin (Steve) Janzow, MacKinzie (Tyler) Schulz, Zoey Magner, Chloee Magner; great-grandchildren, Charlotte & Braxton Schulz, Gemma Janzow, and one coming on September 20; siblings, Jean trfnews.i234.me, Jack (Lynette) trfnews.i234.me, and Ward trfnews.i234.me; and many other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her son, Paul; parents; sister-in-law, Cindy trfnews.i234.me.
