Thief River Falls ( trfnews.i234.me ) – A Newfolden man is facing felony-level charges after refusing an alcohol test during a traffic stop in Thief River Falls on August 2.
According to the criminal complaint, law enforcement received a report at 8:39 p.m. that a vehicle was “all over the road” heading north into Thief River Falls. Officers located the vehicle in the 1500 block of Highway 59 and conducted a traffic stop.
The driver, identified as Andrew Scott Brons, 37, allegedly showed signs of impairment. Brons told officers he had consumed “a beer or two” four or more hours earlier. Field sobriety testing produced mixed results: he passed one test but failed another and became argumentative during a third, causing officers to discontinue the test.
Brons later refused to submit to an alcohol-level test, reportedly claiming the stop was unreasonable. The complaint also notes a 2019 DWI conviction in Marshall County. He now faces second-degree DWI – test refusal charges.
