New East Grand Forks Ordinance Carries $1,000 Fine

EAST GRAND FORKS, MN (trfnews.i234.me) A new East Grand Forks Greenway ordinance packs a $1000 punch.
the east grand forks council has passed a new ordinance that calls for a one thousand dollar fine for motor vehicles that hit the greenway an ordinance to control motor vehicles and addressing other environmental and public safety concerns on the greenway was given final approval at the east grand forks city council’s uh september 7th meeting the new greenway ordinance will codify rules for use that have been in place but carried no real penalties use of motorized vehicles will now be considered a misdemeanor and will carry a fine of up to 1 000 and or jail of up to 90 days motor vehicles have been seen traveling at high rates of speed on and along the trails so that walkers and bicyclists fear for their safety they’ve also run up and down the levees causing damage the ordinance makes it illegal to operate a motor vehicle except in designated areas police chief michael hedlund had previously said an ordinance with penalties will make it easier to enforce compliance with the rules i’m Neil Berg reporting for pageonepublications.com
