NDSU Men’s Golf Finishes 2nd at Red Bandanna Invitational

VERONA, N.Y. – North Dakota State men’s golf wrapped up the first tournament of the season with a second-place finish at the Boston College hosted Red Bandanna Invitational at Kaluhyat Golf Club.
 
Rylin Petry led the way for the Bison in the final round, posting a -1 round of 71 to move up into a tie for sixth overall. Petry had three birdies and 13 pars in the final round to close the two-day event at +3.
 
Ian Simonich finished second for the Bison, closing the event at +5 in a tie for 11th overall. Simonich shot +4 in the final round. Josh Galvin finished one shot back of Simonich, carding a +1 round of 73 to move up to 12th overall after carding four birdies on the day.
 
Sean Moore and Jake Skarperud shot +9 rounds on the day to wrap the scoring for NDSU. Moore finished in a tie for 18th in the 63-golfer field at +11. Skarperud finished in a tie for 23rd at +14. Gabe Benson, who played as an individual, finished in 26th at +16 for the event, following an 82 in the final round.
 

The Bison will head back to New York in two weeks, traveling to the St. John’s hosted Doc Gimmler Red & Black hosted at the Bethpage Red and Black courses in Farmingdale on September 16-17.
