Naytahwaush (trfnews.i234.me) — A Naytahwaush woman is facing a gross misdemeanor charge after a traffic stop in Mahnomen County.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Mahnomen County District Court, Sheri Kay Snetsinger is charged with operating a motor vehicle without a required ignition interlock device.
The case is filed in Minnesota’s 9th Judicial District under court file number 44-CR-26-183.
The charge stems from an incident reported on March 1, 2026, on Highway 59 in Mahnomen County.
Traffic Stop On Highway 59
The complaint says a law enforcement officer was traveling south on Highway 59 at about 6:29 a.m.
The officer reported seeing a northbound vehicle that did not dim its high-beam headlights within 1,000 feet.
The complaint says the driver dimmed the lights when the vehicle was about 75 feet from the patrol vehicle.
A traffic stop was then conducted.
The driver was identified as Sheri Kay Snetsinger, according to the complaint.
Ignition Interlock Allegation
During the stop, law enforcement checked Snetsinger’s driver’s license status.
The complaint states her license was suspended with an ignition interlock restriction.
Authorities allege Snetsinger was driving a vehicle that did not have a working ignition interlock device.
The complaint also states Snetsinger admitted she did not have an ignition interlock in the vehicle.
Under Minnesota Statute 171.306, some drivers may be restricted to vehicles with certified ignition interlock devices.
The charge also references Minnesota Statute 171.09, subdivision 1(g).
The complaint lists the maximum penalty as 364 days in jail, a $3,000 fine, or both.
Court Case Filed In Mahnomen County
The case was filed by the State of Minnesota against Snetsinger in Mahnomen County District Court.
The complaint lists the offense level as a gross misdemeanor.
