Naytahwaush Man Faces 2 Felony Assault Charges

Naytahwaush (trfnews.i234.me) — A Naytahwaush man faces two felony assault charges involving his 14-year-old son.

Lyman Ray Weaver is charged with felony domestic assault and felony third-degree assault.

The charges stem from an October 12, 2025, incident in Mahnomen County.

Prosecutors allege Weaver punched the teenager in the face, causing significant dental and facial injuries.

Teen Taken To Hospital

Law enforcement responded to an assault report at a Naytahwaush residence.

The teenage victim had already been taken by ambulance to Mahnomen Health Center.

Investigators learned the boy had walked to his brother’s home with three friends.

The group was listening to music when Weaver came from a bedroom, according to the complaint.

Witnesses told investigators that Weaver appeared intoxicated and began confronting the group.

The teenager said Weaver pushed him during the dispute.

Witnesses also reported Weaver removed a BB gun from the teenager’s hands.

Dental Injuries Reported

An officer later observed significant injuries to the teenager’s mouth.

One upper front tooth had been pushed backward toward the roof of his mouth.

Investigators also reported fresh blood around the teenager’s gums.

Another tooth may also have been damaged, according to the complaint.

The teenager had a swollen upper lip and small cuts inside his mouth.

He also reported pain near his nose, gums, and left thumb.

Two Felony Charges Filed

Each charge carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.
