PEARL HARBOR, HAWAII (trfnews.i234.me) – After nearly 83 years since he died in the attack on Pearl Harbor, Navy Fire Controlman 3rd Class William Gusie’s remains will finally return to his home state of Minnesota. Gusie, a graduate of White Bear Lake High School in 1939, served aboard the battleship USS Oklahoma during the devastating attack on Dec. 7, 1941, at Ford Island.

On Sept. 23, 2021, Gusie was officially accounted for, nearly 80 years after the attack. However, the announcement was delayed to ensure his family received a comprehensive briefing on his identification.

A burial ceremony is scheduled for June 12 at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, where Gusie will be laid to rest, honoring his sacrifice and service to his country.
