GRAND FORKS, N.D. (trfnews.i234.me) – A 22-year-old woman was arrested after attempting to take her three-year-old child from the custody of Child Protection Services (CPS) at a hotel in Grand Forks. The incident occurred during an active narcotics investigation.
According to the Grand Forks Police, CPS had taken custody of the child due to concerns about Ramstad’s involvement with illicit substances. Despite this, Krysta Ramstad attempted to take the child from CPS workers despite multiple warnings and ignored officer commands responding with vulgar language towards them.
When officers tried to intervene, Ramstad allegedly fled the hotel at a high rate of speed, endangering her own child in the process. Several phone calls were made in an attempt to deescalate the situation and ask her to return to the hotel.
Authorities later located Ramstad at 5029 Coppergate Drive, where she initially resisted arrest but was eventually taken into custody.
The child was placed back under the protection of CPS following the incident.
