GRAND FORKS, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – Brooke Reed Edwards, 30, from Minnesota, waived her preliminary hearing on Monday, June 3, and pleaded not guilty to 16 felony charges in Grand Forks County. Edwards was booked in April for crimes allegedly committed in July 2022.
Edwards faces two Class A felonies for possessing at least 50 grams of methamphetamine and 10 grams of fentanyl analog with intent to manufacture or deliver, both carrying 20-year maximum sentences.
She also faces five Class B felonies, including conspiracy and unauthorized use of personal information for credit, fentanyl possession with intent, and other drug-related charges. Additionally, she faces nine Class C felonies, ranging from forgery and theft to possession of various controlled substances and drug paraphernalia.
Her husband, Tyler Gene Berg, also implicated, is in Hennepin County custody on unrelated charges and appeared in Grand Forks County court on May 29.
The couple is accused of creating fake Fidelity Investments accounts to deposit forged checks totaling $9,570 and selling fentanyl to a confidential informant. A subsequent search of their residence uncovered large quantities of drugs and paraphernalia. Edwards admitted to buying counterfeit M30 fentanyl pills in Minneapolis for $10 and selling them for $50 in Grand Forks.
Edwards’ final dispositional conference is set for August 29 at 1:30 p.m.
