DILWORTH, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – In a shocking revelation, Mikhail Wicker, 37, hailing from Dilworth, Minnesota, faces a litany of charges after allegedly orchestrating an elaborate scheme to defraud the government of more than $100,000 by deceitfully masquerading as a decorated veteran.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Minnesota, has leveled multiple charges against Wicker, including wire fraud, false military discharge certificate, fraudulent use of military medals, and theft of government funds.

According to court documents, spanning from 2015 to 2020, Wicker exploited the goodwill of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs by fabricating a heroic military career as a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He purportedly concocted tales of combat valor, asserting he had endured captivity as a prisoner of war in Iraq in 2005 and suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and combat-related injuries.

Allegations suggest that Wicker resorted to forgery and fabrication, submitting falsified documents, including a counterfeit Purple Heart certificate, to substantiate his deceitful claims.

Despite never having served in the armed forces, Wicker allegedly amassed over $100,000 in ill-gotten veterans’ benefits. He faced the consequences of his alleged actions during his initial appearance in U.S. District Court on April 3, 2024.

The culmination of this case stems from a comprehensive investigation led by various federal agencies, including the Department of Veterans Affairs, Office of Inspector General, the Department of Defense, Office of Inspector General, and the Social Security Administration, Office of the Inspector General. Assistance from Homeland Security Investigations and the Dilworth Police Department bolstered the pursuit of justice in this intricate case.
