GRAND FORKS, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – Nearly two years after a warrant was issued for his arrest, Tyler Gene Berg, 33, of Minneapolis, made his initial appearance in three Grand Forks County felony cases on Wednesday, May 29. Berg, who has been in Hennepin County’s custody since January, faces 15 drug- and theft-related felony charges. His wife, Brooke Reed Edwards, faces 16 similar charges.
Judge Donald Hager requested that Berg remain in custody while his Grand Forks County cases are open, despite his approval for veterans court in Hennepin County. Edwards, 30, was apprehended in April and is held on a $30,000 bond.
Berg’s charges include three Class A felonies, four Class B felonies, and eight Class C felonies. The charges stem from creating fraudulent accounts, selling fentanyl, and possessing large quantities of drugs. The couple allegedly bought drugs in Minneapolis to resell in Grand Forks at a significant markup. Berg’s preliminary hearings and arraignments are scheduled for July 8, while Edwards’ are set for June 3.
