MINNEAPOLIS (trfnews.i234.me) — A shocking, brutal assault on Lyndale Avenue South has left one man dead and 42-year-old Coby Levan Richardson behind bars, facing second-degree murder charges.
THE DEADLY ATTACK
On February 15, 2025, Minneapolis police responded to the 2500 block of Lyndale Avenue South around 12:20 p.m. after reports of a violent confrontation. Officers found a man unconscious in a parking lot, suffering from severe head trauma.
According to witnesses, Richardson confronted two men over an old dispute, threatening them:
“I will end you. I am gonna kill you.”
Richardson then punched one man in the face before delivering a fatal blow to the second victim, knocking him to the ground. The victim suffered a skull fracture and brain bleeding. He was rushed to the hospital but never regained consciousness, dying on February 18.
WITNESS STATEMENTS & VIDEO EVIDENCE
A witness sitting in a vehicle nearby identified Richardson, and surveillance footage captured the entire attack. Investigators also uncovered a prior altercation from January 25, when Richardson allegedly threatened the victims in a bar, claiming he was a member of the Gangster Disciples and had served 10 years in federal prison.
ARREST & CHARGES
Richardson was arrested on February 19, 2025, with authorities confirming his criminal history and gang ties.
He now faces:
- Second-degree murder
- First-degree manslaughter
- Threats of violence
- Fifth-degree assault
Richardson remains in custody with bail set at $250,000, under strict conditions banning him from weapons, drugs, alcohol, and witness contact.
