Michael Dennis Conners, 70, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2026, at Billings Clinic Hospital due to complications of pneumonia.
Born on January 26, 1956, in Thief River Falls to Timothy and Betty (Gulrud) Conners.
Michael was an extraordinary man whose greatest pride and joy was his family. He cared deeply for his wife and children, always putting the people he loved first, but there was a special place in his heart that belonged to his grandchildren. They were truly the light of his life, and the love he had for them was immeasurable.
From a young age. Michael had a passion for communication and technology. He became a HAM radio operator early in life, a skill he carried with him throughout the years. His knowledge, curiosity, and ability to connect with others were qualities that remained a meaningful part of who he was.
Michael and Rita were married on August 15, 1986, and due to the Yellowstone fires in 1988, Michael was able to live his dream by making Cody his home and living near Yellowstone. This is when he began his career with the Park County Sheriff’s Office. He dedicated 36 years of his life to serving his community, a testament to his strong sense of duty, honor, and commitment to others. His dedication to Park County was unwavering.
Michael will be remembered not only for the years he devoted to serving his community, but for the man he was at home – a loving husband, devoted father, cherished grandfather, and a man whose presence made a lasting difference in the lives of those fortunate enough to know him.
In his younger years, Michael enjoyed fishing and hiking through the mountains, but all through life, shooting guns remained his passion. His family will forever carry the lessons he taught them, the memories they shared, and the love he gave so freely. Though his absence leaves an immeasurable space in their lives, his legacy will live on through his family and all those whose lives he touched.
Michael is survived by his spouse, Rita (Gustafson) Conners; son, Christopher Conners; daughter, Kelsy Conners and her partner Jesse Anderson; grandchildren, Liam Conners, Ember Conners, Addison Anderson, and Ainsley Anderson; brother, Timothy “TC” Conners; nephews, Schuyler and Cody Conners; brother-in-law, Scott Gustafson; and sister-in-law, Juanita Hepburn.
