Menahga Man Pleads Guilty To Sexual Conduct Charge In Roseau County

ROSEAU, Minn. (trfnews.i234.me— A Menahga man has pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a 13-year-old girl in Roseau County. According to court records, 21-year-old Leeroy Elmer Kicker entered the plea on Monday, October 20.

Kicker was originally charged with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct following a report filed on June 5 after a parent discovered him and another man in a room with two underage girls — her 13-year-old daughter and her daughter’s 12-year-old friend. The second suspect, 18-year-old Colton Johnathon Skare, allegedly fled before officers arrived, according to the statement of probable cause.

Investigators said the 13-year-old victim told police her friend met Skare through a social media app. The girl admitted she pretended to be 18 years old. She also told investigators that during a previous meeting, she and Kicker engaged in sexual acts. Kicker reportedly admitted to the conduct but claimed he believed the girl was an adult.

As part of the plea, Kicker’s charge was amended to second-degree criminal sexual conduct. He still maintains a not guilty plea on the remaining first-degree charge. Kicker will undergo a pre-sentence investigation and a psycho-sexual evaluation before his sentencing, which is scheduled for December 29 at 2 p.m.

No formal plea agreement has been made public at this time. Skare, meanwhile, continues to maintain his innocence and is scheduled for an omnibus hearing on November 17 at 2 p.m.

Under Minnesota Statute 609.343, second-degree criminal sexual conduct is a felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison and a fine of $35,000.
