McLaughlin Man Listed on Registry, Now in Custody
MCLAUGHLIN, S.D. (trfnews.i234.me) — Patrick Donovan Red Legs remains listed on South Dakota’s public sex offender registry.
The current registry says Red Legs is incarcerated in U.S. Marshal custody.
His public profile was updated on August 4, 2026.
The registry lists a federal conviction for abusive sexual contact of a minor.
TRF News is not publishing any former street address connected to Red Legs.
2015 Federal Conviction
Federal prosecutors announced Red Legs’ sentence in November 2015.
He received 24 months in federal custody.
He also received 10 years of supervised release.
Red Legs pleaded guilty on November 3, 2014.
The underlying incident was reported in Little Eagle during June 2014.
The Justice Department described the victim as a 13-year-old girl.
The current registry describes the victim as 14 years old.
The official sources therefore differ on the listed age.

Later Failure-to-Register Case
Red Legs later faced additional federal registration cases.
His latest published federal sentence was imposed June 30, 2025.
A judge sentenced him to one year and 11 months in prison.
The sentence also included five years of supervised release.
Federal prosecutors called it his third failure-to-register conviction.
They said Red Legs registered a McLaughlin address after his June 2024 release.
Prosecutors said he later moved to Little Eagle without updating his registration.
He pleaded guilty to the charge on May 15, 2025.
