Marshall Woman Hurt in Highway 23 Crash

Fairview Township (trfnews.i234.me) — A Marshall woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 23 Thursday morning.

The collision happened at about 7:59 a.m. on September 18, 2026. The crash occurred near County Road 33 in Fairview Township.

The location is in Lyon County, near Marshall.

Two SUVs Collide on Highway 23

According to the crash report, a 2026 Chevrolet Equinox was traveling north on Highway 23.

The Equinox was turning onto County Road 33 when the crash occurred.

A 2013 Dodge Journey was traveling south on Highway 23 at the same time.

The two vehicles then collided at the intersection.

The road surface was wet when the crash happened.

Sara Marie Ormberg, 46, of Marshall, was driving the Chevrolet Equinox.

Ormberg suffered injuries described as non-life-threatening.

She was taken to Avera for medical care following the collision.

Ormberg was wearing a seat belt. The vehicle’s airbags also deployed.

The report said alcohol was not suspected in connection with Ormberg.

Cayden William Caron, 22, of Cottonwood, was driving the Dodge Journey.

Caron was not reported injured in the collision.

He was also wearing a seat belt when the crash occurred.

Several emergency agencies responded to the scene.

They included the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, Marshall Fire Department, and North Ambulance.

The crash was listed as an injury incident under report number 26301772.
