BAUDETTE, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – Corey Roper, currently incarcerated, faces three felony charges for allegedly burning a 3-year-old boy with scalding water.

Court documents reveal that Roper and his girlfriend, the child’s mother, delayed seeking medical treatment for the child for three days. Pictures presented to TRF News depict severe burns covering the child’s face, scalp, and hands. Allegedly, Roper became upset when the child and his sibling made a mess with laundry detergent, leading to the punitive act of putting them in a shower with hot water.

However, an investigating officer disputes Roper’s account, suggesting that the burns may not have occurred in the shower but in hot water. Roberta Cook, the child’s step-great-grandmother, expressed shock at the severity of the abuse. Medical professionals note that the failure to promptly seek medical care for the child’s severe burns constitutes medical neglect. Roper is charged with felony child torture and could face a lengthy prison sentence if convicted. As of now, no one else has been charged in connection with the case.
