the 28 year old rogelio anguiano of east grand forks is charged with assaulting a three-year-old child and causing a brain injury angiano has been charged with felony assault first degree great bodily harm and felony malicious punishment of a child according to court documents on november 17th at 2 23 p.m an east grand forks officer was dispatched to the 700 block of third avenue northeast for a report of a child that had fallen down the stairs the officer noted the child was at the bottom of the stairs eyes closed not responsive but breathing anguiano told police he was a babysitting playing video games he was a boyfriend of the child’s mother and heard the child fall down the stairs and tried to perform cpr the child was transported via ambulance to altru and angliana rode with the officer who recorded as part of a phone conversation uh with the child’s mother anguiano was speaking spanish and his conversation translates as quote if they arrest me tell them that you are the one that hit him if they ask you tell them it wasn’t me because they will screw me unquote then while being transported to jail anguillano asked the officer if things would have been different if he had fled to texas the charges of assault and malicious punishment of a child for the child’s major brain injury carry maximum sentence sentences of 20 and ten years respectively i’m Neil Berg reporting for trfnews.i234.me
