Becker County, MN (trfnews.i234.me)—Joshua Lawrence Miller, 33, of Mahnomen, has been sentenced in Becker County District Court for felony fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct. As part of a plea agreement, two felony counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct were dismissed.
According to court records, on October 7, 2020, a Moorhead police officer met with a 15-year-old girl and her family members. They reported that Miller had inappropriately touched the girl the previous night and had done so previously in Becker County. During a forensic interview on October 12, 2020, the victim disclosed that Miller had sexually abused her between 2010 and 2011, starting when she was 5 years old and living with her grandmother in Ponsford.
On July 30, District Judge Michelle Lawson sentenced Miller to 24 months in prison at St. Cloud, with the sentence stayed for five years. He was ordered to serve 724 days in jail, with credit for time served, and fined $50 plus $160 in court fees.
Miller is required to register as a sexual offender and adhere to several conditions, including:
- No contact with the victim or her family.
- Compliance with recommendations from a psychological-sexual evaluation.
- Submission to polygraph testing upon request.
- No unsupervised contact with individuals under 18, including his own children, or with vulnerable adults.
- Completion of outpatient sex offender treatment.
- Completion of a comprehensive assessment and adherence to all recommendations, including aftercare.
He will be on supervised probation for five years.
