Mahnomen Woman Charged After Highway 113 Stop

MAHNOMEN COUNTY (trfnews.i234.me) — A White Earth woman faces a gross misdemeanor charge following a traffic stop in Mahnomen County.

Shantel Rae Hanks, 27, has been charged with driving after license cancellation. Court records say her driving privileges were canceled as inimical to public safety.

The charge was filed in Minnesota’s Ninth Judicial District Court. The case is listed under court file number 44-CR-26-355.

Traffic Stop On Highway 113

The alleged offense happened on June 2, 2026, along Minnesota Highway 113.

According to the criminal complaint, a vehicle was traveling 67 mph in a 55 mph zone. A law enforcement officer then stopped the vehicle.

Hanks was identified as the driver, according to the complaint. A records check showed her license had been canceled.

The complaint alleges Hanks knew, or had reason to know, about the cancellation.

Gross Misdemeanor Charge

Hanks is charged under Minnesota Statute 171.24.

The offense is classified as a gross misdemeanor under state law.

A conviction could bring up to 364 days in jail. The court could also impose a fine of up to $3,000.

The complaint is based on probable cause. It does not represent a finding of guilt.

Hanks is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. The case will move through the Mahnomen County court system.
