SAINT PAUL, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – A Level 3 sex offender on intensive supervised release was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon after a woman was found unresponsive in his Stryker Avenue apartment.
Around 3 p.m. on Aug. 5, a Ramsey County probation officer arrived for a check on 60-year-old Anthony DeWalt, who has prior criminal sexual conduct convictions from a 2005 Wright County case.
The officer reportedly saw blood on DeWalt, who was naked, and spotted the woman in the bathtub. The officer left and called 911. Police arrived minutes later, forced entry, and began life-saving measures. Medics transported her to Regions Hospital, where she is expected to survive.
Police say paramedics noted possible overdose signs and administered Narcan. The case remains under investigation, and no new charges have yet been filed.
In 2005, DeWalt was convicted of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl, originally sentenced to life before a Minnesota Supreme Court ruling changed it to 12 years in prison.
