Sibley County (trfnews.i234.me) ā A man from St. Paul was hurt in a crash near Le Sueur. The crash happened on icy Highway 169. It occurred early Monday morning.
What happened
The Minnesota State Patrol says a Ryder rental truck was stopped on the southbound shoulder. The stop was near Sibley County Road 8 in Henderson Township. The time was 3:36 a.m. on December 22, 2025.
A semi tractor-trailer was also traveling south on Highway 169. The semi jackknifed on snow and ice. It then slid into the stopped rental truck.
The patrol report lists only one other vehicle in the crash. It describes the rental truck as a 2020 International Ryder truck. The semi was listed as a tractor-trailer.

Injuries and response
The rental truck driver was identified as Andre Reynold Smith, 38, of St. Paul. The patrol said Smith had non-life-threatening injuries. He was taken to Ridgeview Hospital for treatment.
The report says Smith was wearing a seat belt. It also says alcohol was not involved. Airbags in the rental truck did not deploy.
Le Sueur Police and Ridgeview Medical helped at the scene. Traffic impacts were not listed in the report. The report did not name the semi driver.
Road conditions and safety
The patrol described road conditions as snow and ice. Jackknifes can happen when traction is low. Winter travel can change fast on Highway 169.
Drivers should slow down and leave more space. Use low beams in blowing snow. Give large trucks extra room to stop.
