Kolby McKay Faces Federal Charges for Assault in Fort Totten, North Dakota

FORT TOTTEN, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – Kolby McKay, a resident of Fort Totten, North Dakota, is now facing federal charges following an assault case in March 2024. The formal charges include assault with a dangerous weapon and assault of a spouse or intimate partner by strangulation.

According to the criminal complaint, on March 13, 2024, at 11:25 p.m., the BIA dispatch in Fort Totten received a distress call reporting an assault on a female victim by Kolby McKay. Medical assistance was requested in the old housing neighborhood of Fort Totten.

The victim recounted that McKay entered her residence, grabbed her phone, and left briefly. Upon returning, McKay accused her of infidelity, leading to a confrontation where he pushed her into a dish rack. McKay then escalated the situation by brandishing a knife and holding it to the victim’s neck, followed by choking her until she nearly lost consciousness.

Upon arrival, law enforcement found the victim lying on the floor. They located the knife used by McKay and observed redness and marks on the victim’s neck.

McKay and the victim share a child together, adding complexity to the case.
