BEMIDJI, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – In a swift turn of events, Bemidji police have apprehended a robbery suspect following a tense search. The suspect, believed to be a juvenile, was taken into custody after a reported incident at the Holiday Station on Paul Bunyan Drive South.
According to Captain Dave Lazella, the police responded to a robbery report at 3:15 a.m. Upon arrival, it was discovered that a male suspect had allegedly stolen vaping products and brandished a firearm at a store employee. Witnesses recounted seeing the suspect attempting to flee with a display case and even threatening violence.
Surveillance footage aided in identifying the suspect as a Native American male, standing between 5’10” to 6′ tall, with a robust build. He was last seen wearing a black face mask, gray jacket, tan cargo-style shorts, and black athletic shoes.
Detectives are urging residents and businesses in the area to review their surveillance footage between 1:30 a.m. to 4:30 a.m. for any suspicious activity. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Detective Nick Witelo at 218-333-8312.
With the suspect now in custody, the community can breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that swift action has been taken to address the situation.
