Jamestown Man Convicted in Child Exploitation Case

JAMESTOWN, North Dakota (trfnews.i234.me) – The North Dakota Sex Offender Registry lists Joel John Schumacher, 55, of Jamestown, as incarcerated following convictions in Cass County for possessing sexual conduct material involving minors.

According to court records, Schumacher was convicted on April 28, 2025, in Cass County District Court on two separate counts of possession of material – sexual conduct by a minor under state statute 12.1-27.2-04.1.

For the first conviction, Schumacher received a five-year sentence, with three years to serve and 28 days of credit for time already served. He will also serve two years of supervised probation.

On the second conviction, he was again sentenced to five years, with two years to serve, and the same 28 days of credit applied. This sentence also includes two years of supervised probation. The sentences will run concurrently.

The registry lists Schumacher’s current residence as 2521 Circle Drive, Jamestown, ND, in Stutsman County. His status is incarcerated, and his risk level has not yet been determined.

Schumacher is described as a white male, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 150 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. No scars, marks, or tattoos were recorded in the public registry.

Officials remind the public that North Dakota’s sex offender registry is a public safety tool, but caution that misuse of registry information to harass or target offenders is illegal and may result in penalties.
