Plymouth, Minnesota (trfnews.i234.me) — In a tragic incident early Monday morning, an 83-year-old pedestrian from Minatare, Nebraska, was fatally struck by a vehicle on Highway 55 in Plymouth, Hennepin County.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the accident occurred around 5:35 a.m. near Revere Lane. The elderly man was walking when he was hit by a westbound 2005 Ford Mustang driven by a 48-year-old man from Elk River, Minnesota. The driver sustained minor injuries and did not require hospitalization. Authorities have stated that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
The pedestrian was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His identity has not yet been released, pending notification of family members. The Minnesota State Patrol is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The westbound lanes of Highway 55 were closed for approximately two hours following the crash but have since reopened.
