Hennepin County (trfnews.i234.me) – A violent gang-related mass shooting erupted on June 1 at Boom Island Park in Minneapolis, leaving one woman dead and five others injured—one now fully paralyzed.
According to court documents, 23-year-old Zyere Jakye Porter has been charged with second-degree murder, drive-by murder, and four counts of attempted murder. The shooting unfolded during a birthday party that had been moved from French Park. Investigators say Porter, tied to the Low End gang, arrived with two others to attack a rival gang member.
130 shell casings were found on the scene, fired from at least nine guns. Surveillance shows a black Dodge Challenger circling the park as a passenger fired into the crowd. The car was later found repainted green and hidden behind a Chrysler at Porter’s home in Spring Lake Park. Porter’s fingerprints and ballistics evidence tied him to the murder weapon.
The victim who died was riding in a car with her sister, who told police the Challenger opened fire as they tried to flee.
