Hennepin County (trfnews.i234.me) – A shocking act of violence rocked Minneapolis early Friday morning, July 4th, when a man in his 20s was fatally shot while riding an electric scooter in the city’s north side.
According to the Minneapolis Police Department, officers from the Fourth Precinct responded around 2:35 a.m. to the 2100 block of Dupont Avenue North after a ShotSpotter alert and multiple 911 calls reported gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered the young man critically wounded by a gunshot. He was rushed to North Memorial Health but tragically died shortly after.
Initial reports indicate the victim and a companion were riding scooters when gunfire erupted. The man collapsed after being hit, and the other rider immediately called for help.
Authorities have not released any information on suspects or motive, and are investigating whether the shooting was targeted or random. Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara called on the community to come forward with any details.
“This tragic loss of life is something we, as a community, simply cannot accept,” said O’Hara. “Our investigators are working urgently to determine whether this was a targeted or random act, and we need the public’s help.”
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will release the victim’s identity and cause of death once confirmed.
