Cottage Grove, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – A 43-year-old woman from Hastings tragically lost her life on Wednesday afternoon, July 17, in a crash on Highway 61 near Kingsborough Trail in Cottage Grove, Minnesota.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the crash occurred shortly after 4:30 p.m. when a 2016 Hyundai Genesis pulled out from the entrance of River Oaks Golf Course. It was then struck by a southbound 2005 Chevrolet Equinox, causing the Equinox to roll multiple times.
The driver of the Equinox, Crystal Rae Maciewski, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. She died at the scene from her injuries.
The 22-year-old driver of the Hyundai was wearing a seatbelt and suffered no injuries, authorities report. Road conditions were dry, and alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
Highway 61 was closed for approximately three hours while the scene was investigated. The road reopened around 7:30 p.m.
