Grygla Man Charged After Driving Ban Violation

Mahnomen County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Grygla man is facing a gross misdemeanor charge after authorities say he drove in Mahnomen while his driving privileges were canceled for public safety reasons.

Driver Accused Of Operating Vehicle Without License

According to a complaint filed in Mahnomen County District Court, Brandeis Jayde Olberg, 46, is charged with driving after cancellation-inimical to public safety.

The charge is based on an alleged incident from June 9, 2026, in the city of Mahnomen.

Court documents state Olberg was operating a vehicle while his Minnesota driving privileges had been canceled or denied.

The complaint says he had been notified of the cancellation or should have known about the restriction.

The charge is listed as a gross misdemeanor under Minnesota law.

According to Minnesota court records, the offense can carry up to 364 days in jail and a fine of up to $3,000.

Incident Report Details

The complaint states the incident happened around 2:41 p.m. at the Cenex gas station in Mahnomen.

A law enforcement officer was at the station when a black Chevrolet Impala caught her attention.

According to the complaint, a female passenger appeared upset while arguing with the driver.

The passenger reportedly left the vehicle and threw the keys onto the ground.

Authorities say the woman told officers she was upset because the vehicle’s air conditioning was not working.

She reportedly said she had medical concerns that made it difficult to be in the heat.

The woman told authorities she asked Olberg to drive because of her condition.

Olberg Taken Into Custody

The complaint states Olberg confirmed he was driving the vehicle.

Documents also state Olberg told authorities he had recently been released from prison.

Officials determined his driving status remained canceled due to public safety concerns.

Olberg was taken into custody and transported to the Mahnomen County Sheriff’s Office.

The complaint states he was processed through the book-and-release procedure.

All charges are allegations. A defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

The case is filed in Mahnomen County District Court under Court File No. 44-CR-26-333.
