Griggs County Sheriff Quits, Cites Lack of Resources from County Commission

COOPERSTOWN, ND (trfnews.i234.me) Griggs County, North Dakota Sheriff Amberly Michaelis has resigned. She says County Commissioners provided no resources.
we have an update uh regarding griggs county sheriff amber lee mcsallis resigning now she tells me on this friday morning it’s official she’s quitting on september 21st it could leave the entire county of griggs county with just one deputy to patrol the county 24 7. this is sheriff amberley mcallis and an entire staff of two deputies they are the lowest paid sheriff’s office in north dakota with salaries ranging from forty four thousand four hundred and fifteen dollars to fifty eight thousand two hundred and ninety six for the top job and one of the two deputies is leaving next week for a guard deployment and now after submitting her resignation letter to county uh commissioners she’s decided to follow through and is quitting effective september 21st that’s despite a last-ditch effort by county commissioners to guarantee a shift of over six thousand dollars of covid money to her department for the rest of the year commissioner john wakefield was a no vote on that sheriff mcallist says she simply doesn’t have the resources to keep griggs county residents safe things might get a little dangerous there’s just not enough people on the streets out here no i mean they essentially have us in such a hole where we just don’t have resources you know we can only react to things we can’t be proactive we don’t have the bodies and with one leaving and working the entire county with two people it’s not reasonable and it’s unsafe and when you say two people that’s 24 7. 24 7. it’s one person maybe and sometimes nobody i don’t know that is correct i spend my living for over three decades now going around to bad things and i can tell you they happen in small towns too that’s where i’ve been going once a month for for years right yeah and our drug problem hasn’t gotten any better yeah so i mean they already know we’re short we don’t even contract with the city of cooperstown they know that so the drugs just keep flowing in so that could be another uh thing down the road here too maybe get the some city money kicking into all this yeah the city has tried since i’ve been in this position they’ve tried and tried and tried to work with the county it just the county isn’t willing to budge time will tell if anyone’s available to answer that 911 call if law enforcement is needed in griggs county north dakota from cooperstown i’m Neil Berg reporting for trfnews.i234.me

  1. Let’s just announce it to everyone that they’re in enough police in the area so crime can go rampant that’s smart… too bad I’m no longer into the bank robbing business.

  2. If there's something strange,
    in the neighborhood,
    who you gonna call?

    COUNTY COMMISSIONERS!!!

    If there's something weird,
    and it don't look good,
    who you gonna call?

    COUNTY COMMISSIONERS!!

I guess backwoods justice may prevail now that the system has failed its people it was designed to serve and protect.
