Gregory John Cook passed away on Monday, October 14, 2024, at home. Greg is survived by his wife Toni, children Chris (Jill), Becky, Forrest, and Angie (Noah), and his grandchildren Patrick James, Leo Gregory, Annelise Rose, Sofia Rose, Maya Lilly, Natalie Grace, Kai August, Ruby Jean, and Aria Jean. Greg is also survived by his siblings Deborah, Timothy, Cynthia (John), Catherine, Michael (Julie), and Colette (Dave), along with his former spouse Denise and many nieces, nephews, friends, and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and other remembered family.
Greg was born to John and Aggie (Satran) Cook in Greeley, Colorado on May 29, 1951. The family settled in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He loved his childhood and growing up with a large family in the Sherlock Park neighborhood where many memories and friendships were forged. After high school, Greg graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He graduated from Marquette Law School in 1976. Greg tried over 175 jury trials to verdict throughout Wisconsin and settled countless others. His experience as a civil litigator for nearly fifty years earned him immense respect in the legal community.
Greg enjoyed spending time with family, activities at his church, golfing, helping and serving others, and spending time with youngsters in the family, and the family roots. Although an average golfer at best, Greg was a top-shelf storyteller. Greg was a fiercely loyal and devoted man, a man of deep faith, a learned student of history, and a pretty darn good eater too. He loved having a great laugh and being the patriarch of the family. He served all these roles with passion and purpose.
Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Brookfield, WI in early November. Interment at Roosevelt LDS Cemetery in Shawano, Wisconsin.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorials to Greg’s most favorite cause, the Alpine Autism Center, 2760 Fieldstone Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80919; www.alpineautismcenter.org.
